It is with great sadness that the family of Eugenia Abriol announces her passing on Saturday, October 21, 2017 after a long illness at the age of 87. Eugenia will be lovingly remembered by her son, Joseph Abriol, daughter, Clare Mazala, grand-daughter, Erin Russell, great grandson, Hue Wickstrom, son-in-law, Angelo Mazala, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Eugenia was predeceased by her late husband, Venancio M. Abriol, son, Robert Abriol, and daughter, Ursula Custodio.
Eugenia was born in Guiuan, Samar, Philippines. She came to Alameda in 1967 with her family. After raising the family, she became a cosmetologist. Eugenia had always been interested in being involved in the Filipino community. Along with her husband, Venancio, they created the Guiuananons of Northern California Association. The Guiuananons just celebrated their 50-year anniversary as an organization. Eugenia also had become vice-president of the United Filipinos of Alameda and vice-president of the United Filipinos Armed Forces Retired Association.
Family and friends are invited to attend the funeral services in honor of Eugenia. The visitation will be held on Friday, November 3rd from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with the vigil service at 7:00 p.m. and the funeral mass will be held on Saturday, November 4th at 10:00 a.m. - all will be held at St. Albert the Great Church, 1022 Holly St., Alameda (Bay Farm). Eugenia will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Colma.
