Gary Jack Bell (Bell Hell) peacefully passed away on Monday, February 20, 2017 at the Orinda Care Center at 9:45 a.m.  He is survived by his loving daughter Alicia Orabella and his granddaughter, Arianna Keenan.

Gary is referred to an Icon and a Legend to the local community of Alameda.  He was well known as a local bartender and music lover in the 70’s to the 90’s. He lived his life to the fullest and “had no regrets.” His love for the Bay Area Music Scene was prevalent and he spent many years organizing gigs and benefits for those in need.  He spent some time on Maui in the late 70’s as a bartender and music promoter.

He was at peace when he passed. He said “I loved growing up in the 60’s. The MUSIC! I must have seen one thousand shows. I wouldn’t have changed a thing. We were part of a revolution and I am so glad I was a part of it. Alicia, you are the best thing that ever happened to me. I know I didn’t spend as much time with you as I should have. But you and I shared a special bond starting back when you visited me in Hawaii in 1979. You are the bestest daughter in the whole wide world. I am so blessed. I didn’t deserve you, but God blessed me with you and my beautiful granddaughter Arianna.”

Family and friends are invited to Celebrate Gary on Sunday, March 5th at 1:00 p.m. at Greer Family Mortuary and Cremation Services, 2694 Blanding Ave., Alameda and a Gathering to follow at the Churchward Pub on Park St. AKA: The Pop Inn.
