Born in Manila, Philippines on September 24, 1959, daughter to Luisa Magat and the late Quirico Gonzales peacefully passed away in Alameda, CA on May 14, 2017, at the age of 57.  Mercy leaves behind her beloved mother Luisa Gonzales; siblings, Ruby Munoz, Debbie Girard, Amee (Mindy) Maes, Jerry Gonzales, Mary Jew, Lois Quilalang, Quirico Gonzales, Jr., and Susan Dionisio; beloved nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews, Michael and Maritza Munoz, Korie, Taylor and McKenna Miller, Jenna and Gabriel Quilalang, Niki and Jordan Jew, Celia and Ciana Marie Baldamero, Vincent Gonzales, Francyn, Hi’ilani, and Vincent Gonzales, Jr., Michaela and John Munoz, Ilana and Izellah Bagby, Sara and Nicholas Dionisio, Levi and Major Gonzales, Alisa Bowen; and her only goddaughter, Maya Irby.  She will be dearly missed.

Mercy spent most of her teen and adult life in Alameda, once her military father retired from the U.S. Army.  With a musical education, Mercy was involved in a local band called DnZ.  She also fancied educating her nieces and nephews to appreciate music and played the piano often at family gatherings.  Mercy was an avid runner and cyclist, winning many medals, trophies and awards for her effort.  Her most recent accomplishment was the 200 mile STP (Seattle to Portland) race with her brother-in-law. She worked for nearly 18 years for Nixon Peabody LLP law firm based in San Francisco, who has cherished and supported Mercy as a “beloved colleague”.  Mercy also worked at the Tenderloin Health (TH) Clinic in San Francisco for over 13 years.

Family and friends may visit after 5:00 p.m. and attend a Celebration of Mercy’s Life at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, June 2, 2017 at Greer Family Mortuary and Cremation Services, 2694 Blanding Ave., Alameda.
