What a beautiful soul this wonderful lady was. We would visit her and Tootsie and talk about the Ratto history in Alameda and Italy. While Ben played with Tootsie, Nancy and I would have coffee and laugh over silly things. She always supported my son Ben in all his Boy Scout endeavors and fundraising, such a generous warm phenomenal, talented remarkable person who will be missed in our life.

At Alameda High, we all knew Nancy, because she sang so sweetly at our student assemblies. She had a wonderful voice and was so poised in front of 2000 students in Kofman Auditorium that one teacher commented on her calm and confidence. She had a beautiful voice, but also a beautiful personality. She was voted most talented of her senior class of 1964. I am sorry for her family that she could not have lived a bit longer. I too became a teacher and know how much she gave to her students and her school. A true teacher never cuts corners and Nancy's energy and passion have undoubtedly passed to one of her students who, in turn, will become a dedicated teacher like her. Deepest condolences to you all, Patricia Stohr (class of 1965, AHS)

We’ve lost an amazing lady and teacher. Her heart was huge, arms always available for a hug. My son was a second grader at Edison and we were blessed to have her as his teacher. My heart goes out to her family and all the people who I know feel such sadness.

Mrs. Gannon was an amazing teacher. She loved to sing and dance and had the most amazing smile. I wish more teachers were like her.
