Our HistorySince its inception in the 1950s, Greer Family Mortuary has become a trusted source for providing quality service to our families. Moving to our current location in 1989, Greer's remains the only mortuary in Alameda. As a full service funeral home we offer a variety of tailored services, ceremonies and product offerings to provide meaningful memories. It is our purpose to give thoughtful service, and if in doing so we have helped to lighten your burden, our aim has been accomplished.

Ken Pearce, Managing PartnerOriginally from Philadelphia, PA, Ken has been in funeral service since 1988. He has been a licensed funeral director in six states and has been in management since 1993. Ken truly believes that quality of service is paramount and each family should be served with the same dignity and respect that he’d want his own family to be treated.
Ken recently relocated to Alameda from Charlotte, NC with his daughter. His interests are professional baseball and football and his hobbies are working out and running. Ken has completed 32 marathons over the last ten years and hopes to run one in all 50 states. He is also a member of the Alameda Rotary Club, Alameda Hospital Foundation Board, and Toastmasters International.

Christine Amittone, Funeral Director/EmbalmerChristine has been in the funeral profession since 2002 and a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer at Greer Family Mortuary since 2008. She is a member of the Bayview Women's Group in Alameda, a volunteer for Alameda Meals on Wheels, active within the Alameda Italian Club and attends various Chamber events. Christine enjoys spending time with her family and friends, cooking, gardening, going to car shows and exploring the Bay Area.

Darren Carter, Apprentice EmbalmerHaving recently graduated from American River College with a degree in Funeral Service Education, Darren is the newest member of the Greer Family Mortuary Staff. Bringing with him a wealth of computer skills from his previous experience in the field of Information Technology, he is eager to implement everything he has learned in school by serving families to the best of his ability. Darren enjoys acting, backpacking and exploring the world.

Andrew Slakey, Funeral Director/EmbalmerAndrew is a licensed funeral director and embalmer who joined Greer Family Mortuary in 2011. His background also includes management experience in the luxury hotel industry. A resident of Alameda, Andrew is honored to serve all families in their time of need and is committed to providing the very best customer service.

Candace Johnson, Advanced Planning AdvisorCandace is a licensed Advance Planning Advisor who has been in the Funeral/Cemetery industry for 20 years. In March of 1992, she lost her eldest relative to Cancer. That event launched her quest into this sometimes misunderstood, but greatly needed business. During the process of coordinating final arrangements, she immediately saw the value of planning ahead, felt a profound connection to the business, and a passion to assist families.
She learned quickly that honesty, integrity and heart-felt customer service were the cornerstone of success in this highly personal and sensitive service industry. From the start, her intent has been to provide families with exceptional customer service and support in making their Final Wishes through Advance Planning and creating genuine relationships with all of the families that she is fortunate to serve. She enjoys spending time with her family and friends and loves helping others.

Celina Hernandez, AdministratorCelina started with Wilson & Kratzer Mortuaries ten years ago. She was hired in 1998 as an Administrative Assistant and in 2001, she was asked to become a Funeral Arranger, an opportunity she took and has been doing since that time. In 2004, she was awarded the “Funeral Service Person of the Year” by the CFDA in Southern California while attending that year’s conference. She has always taken great pride in serving the families in her community as well as her own, over the years. In July of 2008, she passed the California Insurance License exam and looks forward to helping families with their plans of preparing for the future.
A Bay Area native, having attended schools throughout the Contra Costa area, she graduated from high school in 1996, and has been attending college part time. Outside of the office, she enjoys spending time with her husband and raising their four children that range in ages from one to fourteen. Her greatest achievement is her children. The joy and love that they bring to her life are more than any one person could ask for.
