June 2, 1996 ~ January 27, 2024 (age 27) 27 Years Old
From the day she was born, Annika was special. She made Allison a mom and turned Bob and Janet into grandparents. She was sweet and funny like her brother Xavi and their brothers Marcus and Allen - also beautiful and strong like their sisters Stefanie and Sheila. She was so very loved by her dad James and her papa Javier. Her middle name was Milagro and she was truly a miracle.
It may be tempting to reduce Annika’s life to before and after. But the miracle of her life was more than just her survival. Her miracle has always been reminding us to be kind, to embrace life and each other, and to keep fighting the good fight. In her love of music, her generous spirit, her happy laugh, and infectious smile. It was there when she rescued Yoshi and in the joy she shared with everyone she met. And it’s been present for the last ten years as she reminded us daily of her strength and resilience.
Annika loved her family and her friends fiercely – a love we continued to feel long after she lost the ability to tell us with words. And her love will continue to live on in our hearts and our memories. With gratitude, we say goodbye to someone who made our lives so much better. Thank you, Annika, for being a part of our lives.
The family will be accepting condolences and remembering Annika at 11:00 AM on February 10, 2024 at Greer Family Mortuary and Cremation Services in Alameda, California. A reception will follow at her home.
