Born in Phoenix, AZ on November 13, 1929 to the late John and Opal MacIver. Barbara passed away in Alameda, CA on December 9, 2017 at the age of 88.

Barbara is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, Edward "Bud" Soares, her daughters Beverly Ramirez (Ruben) of Alameda and Susan Frankel (Tom) of Danville, and her adored grandchildren Marc, Matt, Jake and Jessica. She is also survived by her sister, Margaret "Peggy" Schwenk.

Barbara was raised in Alameda on Versailles Avenue and attended Versailles School (pre-Edison grammar school), Lincoln Middle School and Alameda High School.  Her parents were long-time owners/operators of MacIver Studio on Park Street. Barbara and Bud were married in 1948 at the old St. Philip Neri Church and she resided on Windsor Drive for 65 years.  Barbara was the bookkeeper for her husband’s family farm, M. Soares and Sons that operated on Bay Farm Island until 1985.

Barbara loved going to her Lake Tahoe home, spending time with her family, and her dachshunds.

Family and friends are invited to attend a prayer service on Monday, December 18, 2017, at 7:00pm at Greer Family Mortuary and Cremation Service, 2694 Blanding Ave., Alameda.
