In deep sorrow we must announce that Carla Ann Galeoto, our treasured sister and friend in the Lord, passed away July 1, 2023, age 69. She was born October 12, 1953 in Chicago, Illinois and her family moved to Alameda, California in 1965. Carla was 12 years old. They are survived by her “hand picked” chosen family: Jeanine Johnson, Janette (Steve husband) Grabke, her earthly assigned daughters, Michelle Calvi, Jennifer Lehnert and all her delightful God-given grandchildren. Sharon (Ronald, husband) Ruggiero- sister & brother-in-law of Carla’s husband, Donald Galeoto (wife, Diana) and all members of Carla's husband, Mark Galeoto. Her stepmother, Linda Hansen, Jane Hansen, Holly Hansen, Brian Benes --all cousins and families of Carla's dad and mom - the Hansens'. Safy Kante, Carla’s personal caregiver and friend for nine years. Also, Carla’s beautiful kitty cat, Luna.
Carla met Jeanine Johnson at church years ago (pastor’s daughter). They both have had a loving, caring and cherishing life-long friendship. Carla was very proud and fond of her! Jeanine had away of making her smile, laugh and feel so loved. Also, Carla met Janette Grabke, (Janette’s senior year in high school) in 1973. They have had a precious unbreakable bond of sisterhood and a life-long friendship. Both did not have sisters—only boys in the family! It was a great wonderful journey for them! They both really felt like sisters! Chit chatting on the phone every week!
Carla felt so blessed to have Janette’s daughters, Michelle Calvi and Jennifer Lehnert as her own children. She did not have any children. So Carla made it her life mission to be their second Mom. She doted and adored the them and they were her girls!! Carla was there for them from the time they were born on this earth—every birthday, Christmas, Easter and special events in their lives. And they loved and adored Carla as much as she did for them! She will always be special and admirable in their lives.
And all those dear loved ones and wonderful caring friends that may perhaps think they are forgotten but are not! Carla does know who you are and you know who you are! Thank you! Carla is forever eternally grateful and humbly thankful for - phoning her, checking on her, visiting with her for hours, getting something for her to eat and going on errands for her. Carla was bedridden coming close to 14 years. When you did it for her - you did it for Jesus! Thank you for making the years easier on her and especially during the last two years when she was weakening and deteriorating rapidly. Our Lord will remember you on this earth and in heaven! Again, thank you!
May we remember, honor and celebrate Carla as a BEAUTIFUL human being who loved her Savior, JESUS…her family, friends and co-workers. May we NOT forget her uplifting smile, intelligence, encouragement, sense of humor and giving heart to us all! A very outstanding and unique (one of a kind) woman! We will always hold a special place in our hearts for her dedication, faithfulness and work ethic she had demonstrated while working for Family Radio Network (a Christian radio station) in Oakland, California for over 25 years! Carla shall be greatly missed by us all. But we know that Carla’s soul and spirit is in the presence of her Heavenly Father and her Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ. She is now reunited in the heavenlies with her father, George Hansen, mother, Gertrude Hansen, brother, Jonathan Hansen, Aunt Donna Benes, and her dearly beloved husband, Mark Galeoto. She will be buried beside him in Carmel, New York at the Raymond Hill Cemetery. That is her last wish on this earth. For now, we shall wait until we will meet again in this after-life! That shall be such a wonderful, glorious day to look forward to see her once again.
