Cristeta (Cristy) Ventura Ecija Guerrero, beautiful, loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother known also as Mama, was called home to our Lord Jesus Christ on Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at 1:30 PM. Mama was born to Bienvenido and Marcella (Ventura) Ecija in Laoag City, Philippines on October 27, 1943.
The fifth born of nine children. Cristeta graduated from Northwestern University in Laoag City and taught Tagalog until moving to the United States in 1971. Mama loved dancing, laughing, and feeding anybody who came to visit. Everybody knew the minute you walked in, Mama would say, “Go eat.” or “What are we going to buy to eat for everyone?” Mama also enjoyed taking the bus with friends to play slots at the casino at least once a month.
Mama was preceded in death by her father Bienvenido and mother, Marcella, sisters Sefarina (Salud), Rogelia (Elia), Regina (Reggie) and brothers Josue, Benito (Itong), Filipino (Pipping), and Teofilo (Boy). Mama is survived by her oldest sister Felomina (Loming) and children Amadeo Guerrero, Gerardo Guerrero, Madeleine and (Joseph) Morales, Ronald Guerrero, Valerie and (Kelly) Portis. She also leaves behind her 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
A viewing will be held on August 8 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Greer Mortuary in Alameda, 2694 Blanding Ave. Funeral services will be August 9 at 10 AM also at Greer Mortuary.
