Cristina passed away after a long battle with cancer surrounded by family on Sunday, April 10, 2022 at her home in Alameda, CA.
Born in Rosario, Cavite (formerly Salinas) Philippines, Cristina spent her youth mostly around this area until enrolling into the Civil Engineering path with the Mapúa Institute of Technology (M.I.T.) in Manila.
She made the choice to come to America in 1979, where she resided with family until meeting her life partner, Eddie while working in San Francisco. After marrying in 1985, Eddie and Cris resided in Tucson, AZ where she gave birth to their first daughter, Katrina in 1987. They moved back to Alameda in 1989 and she gave birth to their second daughter, Adrienne in 1993.
A longtime resident of Alameda, she worked as an irreplaceable technician in the Finance Department at the City of Alameda for 31 years, even working part time after retiring, up until two months before her death.
After being diagnosed, she could be seen walking around Alameda, toting her yoga mat to the nearby studio, to doing HIIT workouts at home to keep active.
Cristina fought cancer for 11 years, going through treatments and operations multiple times, with all the strength she could muster. She was a true fighter and survivor. Cristina is survived by her husband Eddie, and daughters Katrina and Adrienne (son-in-law Edgar); her mother Florentina, her siblings Grace, Chito, Ronald, and Enet.
We will all miss her very much but her spirit continues to be strong in each of us and she will live on in our hearts forever.
Donations may be made to the Dikitanan Family c/o Eddie Dikitanan in her memory in lieu of flowers.
