Daniel G. Regan

September 29, 1944 ~ May 11, 2022 (age 77) 77 Years Old

Tribute

Daniel George Regan passed from this world at Kaiser Hospital in Oakland, CA on May 11, 2022.  He arrived in this world, to the delight of Margaret (DeMartini) and Daniel T. Regan, in San Francisco, CA on September 29, 1944.

He graduated from Sacred Heart Preparatory in June, 1963. He is an Air Force Veteran and served in Human Resources at Hickam Field, Hawaii.

He held a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from San Francisco State University and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from California State University at Hayward, CA.

He retired in 2000 after 29 years of service with the County of Alameda due to heart issues which culminated in a heart transplant on May 16, 2001. He maintained a positive attitude and a willingness to share his experience. He provided information, support and encouragement to those facing similar circumstances.

His life in ministry began with the Teen Club in his parish in Daly City.  He was active in the Ecumenical Cursillo Organization both in San Francisco and the East Bay; and was a Rector in both areas.  In retirement he became a Commissioned Minister in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) of the Northern CA and NV Region and was certified as an Interim Minister by the Interim Ministry Network and served and preached at numerous Bay Area churches.

He was also active with the Seafarers’ Ministry – Port of Oakland providing spiritual resources to the men and women who work aboard the container ships.

Using his ministry and experience he was able to touch many lives with his readiness and disposition to assist those who needed help. In his work and personal life he strived to make our lives a little richer. He will not be forgotten by those who knew him.

And he was not without humor: his Guido Sarducci impersonation was legendary.

He leaves behind a loving family: his wife, Barbara; his son Jason and wife Madonna and children Sky, Dakota, Canyon and Sedona; daughter Jennifer and children Amberly, Stephen and Shawn; his former wife, Gladys; and two sisters, Margaret (Peggy) and Carole and a loving cousin, Karoline DeMartini and daughter Sarah. His nephews Kelly, Kirk, Thor and Scott; and brother-in-laws Stephen and Phil.  His many friends over the years will also maintain his memory.

Family are friends are invited to celebrate Dan on Saturday, May 28, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Congregational Church, 1912 Central Ave., Alameda.  Please be advised that parking is limited to street parking only.  A reception will follow.  In lieu of flowers, donations are encouraged to the Donor Network Association and the American Heart Association.
