Tribute

In Loving Memory of DeAnn Rachel Park Cabrera

Born January 9, 1942 - Deceased April 10, 2020

DeAnn was born in the small farming town of Reedley, California, in Fresno County. Her father, Philip Cho, died shortly after DeAnn’s birth, so DeAnn never knew her father. DeAnn’s mother, Helen, later married Woodrow Park, and Woodrow is the man that DeAnn knew as her father.

As a child DeAnn would help out on the family farm. The family later moved to Glendale, California, and DeAnn attended Glendale High School. The family ran a small grocery store and DeAnn would often help out at the grocery store after school.

DeAnn also met her first husband, Donald Rich, while attending Glendale High School, and they had two sons, Mark and Michael.

One of DeAnn’s first jobs was as an administrative assistant at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California. She later became an Executive Secretary at a school for the mentally disabled in Pacoima, California.

DeAnn divorced Donald in 1977 and she was subsequently married to Angelo Cabrera. DeAnn and Angelo would remain married until DeAnn’s passing. The family then moved to Northern California, where they remained, living first in San Leandro, then in Oakland, and later, Pinole, which is where DeAnn lived for the last fifteen years.

Upon moving to Northern California, DeAnn got a job working for the Southern Pacific Railroad. She also went to college and earned a bachelor’s degree while holding down a full-time job. Now armed with a college degree, DeAnn rose to become a distribution manager at Southern Pacific railroad, where she worked for many years until retirement.

DeAnn’s life was always busy as a working parent, though she also enjoyed social engagements and travel. She was happiest when relaxing with family and friends.

DeAnn was blessed with physical beauty and a warm, vibrant personality. She had a very distinctive laugh and a beautiful smile. DeAnn was a California girl, and had a carefree view of the world.

She is survived by her husband Angelo, her sons Mark and Michael, her brother, Kenneth Park, her grand daughter, Leila Rich, her nephew, Keith Park, and her niece, Kym Park.

She will be missed by all who knew her.

Due to current circumstances, a memorial service will not be held until January 9, 2021. A time and location for the Memorial is being planned and family and friends will be notified of the details at a later date.
