Genoveva B. Mombay

Genoveva Bacaling Mombay, 96, went home to the Lord on May 14, 2020 at 10:50am.  She was born on January 3, 1924 in Iloilo, Philippines.  She married Arthur H. Mombay Sr. on August 3, 1943, who preceded her in death in April 2013.

Genoveva graduated with a Home Economics degree from Philippine Women’s University.  She was a devout Christian and an active elder at Ellinwood Malate Church in the Philippines before retiring to Alameda, California.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and disciplinarian at home. In her free time, she taught piano and read stories to her grandchildren.

For many years, her life was exciting and colorful. She made it a point that family was able to watch Disney On Ice during the Christmas season, watch movies in theatres and was given the ability to travel to different countries.  She loved to travel which led her to destinations across the world, including Singapore, Japan, Jerusalem, Egypt, Australia, across the European continent and most of all, the U.S.

Genoveva is survived by her sons Lysander and Arthur Jr., their wives Tessie and Marilyn, her grandchildren, Lizette, Daphne, John, and Stephanie along with three great grandchildren: Jonathan, Zachary and Zuriel.  She cared for and loved everyone deeply.
