Ian James Bateen was born on August 30, 1971 to Robert and Andrea Bateen in Grand Forks, North Dakota, and passed away on December 19, 2019 in San Francisco, CA at the age of 48. Ian grew up in Helena, Montana and moved to Southern California after graduating from high school. He moved with friends to San Francisco In 1991, calling it home until his death. He met his future wife Heather Miller in 2007, while visiting friends in Tennessee. Heather later moved to San Francisco and they married on August 24, 2012. Heather passed away in 2016. Ian received his degree in computer science from Heald College in 2001 and worked in IT support for many years, most recently for NTT Data in South San Francisco. Ian enjoyed Science Fiction, comic books, movies, and the annual Labor Day cabin trip with friends. Along with his parents, Robert and Andrea Bateen, Ian is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Tobin and Melissa Bateen, his sister, Amber Bateen, his sister and brother-in-law, Alexis and Eric Adiarte, and his aunts, Diane Cecily and Leslie Berg. Ian was an uncle to his nephews and nieces Devin, Noah, Addison, Archer, and Eliana.

Family and friends are invited to attend the memorial service for Ian on Sunday, January 19, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Greer Family Mortuary and Cremation Services.
