“Jim” passed away on March 26th, 2018 after a brief illness. He is survived by his wife Lina Gage-Kelly and sons: Jamie, and Sean Kelly. Born in Huntington, NY, Jim was raised in Weymouth, MA with his siblings: Maureen, Christopher, Linus, and Daniel. He graduated from the US Coast Guard Academy with a BS in Management. Jim received his MS in Information Technology Management from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterrey, CA. He spent 20 years in the Coast Guard doing what he loved. A “permanent Cutterman” with five tours afloat including a U.S. Navy Exchange assignment as a Weapons officer on the U.S.S. Halsey, Jim retired as a LCDR after 20 years of dedicated service. He entered civilian life and worked with the same enthusiasm and discipline, making a mark in the information technology field. His last position was as the IT Associate Director for Amyris, Inc. for 9 ½ Years. Jim’s numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews will miss his wit and humor. Jim’s life would seem short to many, but those who knew him understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time he lives. Jim packed a lot in his 61 years. He was a friend to many. We will miss him.
