Jeanne Marie O’Callaghan Nixon

Jeanne Marie (O’Callaghan) Nixon, 81, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2023 in Oakland, California. She was at home with her husband Robert Nixon, and daughters Bridget (Nixon) Bullington and Erin (Nixon) Wilgus.

Jeanne was born in San Francisco, California on October 19, 1941. She attended St. Cecelia’s Elementary School, graduated from Mercy High School and continued on to Holy Names College, where she majored in Music with a Lifetime Teaching Credential. She continued her education at San Jose State University, earning a master’s degree in Early Childhood Development.

Jeanne worked as a music educator for a number of years and then moved into the business world. She worked as a trainer and executive until her retirement in 2003. She enjoyed gardening, travel, reading, and time with her family — especially her grandchildren. She was also actively involved in neighborhood organizing.

Jeanne is survived by her husband of 50 years, Bob; daughters Bridget (Derrick) and Erin (Dave); grandchildren Amelia, Jack, Lia, Will, Nicky, and Emily; sister Terry (Lorin) Catudio; and many beloved nieces and nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews, family and friends.

Jeanne is preceded in death by her sister Susan Sears and parents Warren and Genevive O’Callaghan.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to St. Mary’s Center in Oakland or a charity of your choice. The family of Jeanne Nixon wishes to thank the amazing nurses of Continuum Hospice & Palliative Care and Kaiser Hospice Care who supported Jeanne and her family through her 9 month journey with Leukemia.

A celebration of Jeanne’s life will be held later in March.
