I just found out that John had passed away. He was a good friend, fraternity brother, and, as many have mentioned, a very funny and intelligent guy.
Rest in peace, Buddha.

I met John in high school. Very smart guy, very funny. We hung out a lot when we both lived in California in the late '70s. I went to the Stanford Illinois football game with him. We also went to the wine country in Napa. Really fun times. I am sorry for your loss.

Dear Jeanne, Jennifer, Sandra and Adam,
I am still in shock and find it hard to believe John is not with us anymore.
I know John for almost 20 years and I am so grateful for it. John was such a nice warm man with a sparkling smile. A good colleague but besides that, always interested in my family. I have warm memories of the visits at your home and the company but also his visits in Holland. I will miss him enormously.
He always was so proud when he spoke about all of you. My thoughts are with you. Wishing you strength to cope with this enormous loss.

He had so much to give, from a kind smile to a good lesson, I will always remember him as one of the best men I have ever met. He really improved my life in many ways, from work to friendship and life appreciation. I will continue to emulate his greatest features and treasure so many good memories.

Dear Jennifer, Sandra and Adam, Jeanne and other family,
What a shock it was to hear about John's passing. I am so sorry for your loss. Although it has been years, I always cherish warm memories of John of all his visits at our home in the Netherlands and of course of my visit in Foster City in 1996.
Wishing you a lot of strength and love in this difficult time.
All the best,
Nienke

The message that John Chory passed away in Texas last Monday, reached us like a thunder in clear sky and brought us into shock.
It was in Austin Texas, where John stood at the cradle of Applikon Inc. in the US in the mid-eighties.
Starting with just a small crew, John introduced Applikon’ s on-line chemical analysis and biotechnology reactor systems into the US.
After several years the young company removed to the then already booming biotech Bay area of San Francisco.
Located in Foster City John successfully developed relationships with many large pharmaceutical companies, universities and institutes.
Numerous times, until the year 2008 – when we retired – we met in California or The Netherlands to discuss business strategies, tune our mutual programs anticipating marketing chances, but also found times to relax and had fun together.
Inspired and managed by John for more than 30 years, Applikon Inc developed into the greatly respected partner in the US.
We have got to know John as a strongly motivated person, extremely energetic and carrying an enormous market knowledge.
It is with the greatest respect that we will remember our co-operation during the years we worked together.
Our thoughts are with his wife Jeanne and his family. We wish them strengths to cope with this sudden enormous loss.

It is very sad to hear of John's passing. We knew him as a vibrant person, great father and a wonderful family man. He had a quiet joy of life, comforting smile and love of others. We wish his family comfort in this unexpected, terrible loss. There will be many smiles in heaven waiting to greet him.

Always loved telling everyone about my sometime Sharks hubby who was so wonderful, kind and generous to everyone he would meet. Thru John we "adopted".our beautiful Sharks "Daughters", Jennifer and Sandra and "Son" Adam. We found great new friends and John brought us into his beautiful family the circle of love. We shared a precious gift of time and remembrances. We were blessed that we spent Easter with our blended Sharks family at the home in Corpus Christi. Memories for a lifetime. We love you with all our hearts and will miss you. Our hearts are breaking💔💔💔.Toni and Lou

Very surprised and sorry to hear that John has passed away, my condolences to the family. As the Engineering Director and founding member of Aber Instruments I'd be associated with Applikon Inc and John for more than 20 years. He was an excellent person with a sound grasp of the engineering and business side of our products and of course those of Applikon in Holland. On my 20 or so visits to the states (and often Europe) he always took time out to say hello and share our business and family interests. He was a gentleman and I will miss him.
