Maria Cortez Quintin

Born in the Philippines Maria Cortez Quintin passed away peacefully on January 13, 2021 at Sutter Alta Bates Medical Center, she was eighty-seven years old.

She was born on August 20, 1933 to the late Pastor Cortez and Felipa Villamor of the Philippines. She had been a longtime resident of Oakland, California since she migrated from the Philippines. She was a member of Faith Community Church United Church of Christ Oakland.

She was third of six siblings of two brothers and four sisters. Three of her siblings preceded her in death and was survived by two sisters which were in the Philippines.

She had nine children, eight sons and one daughter, of which two sons and one daughter preceded her in death also.

She was survived by two sisters, six sons, five daughter in-laws, eight grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

She was a retired Certified Nursing Assistant and was well liked by all her co-workers and clients alike. She was known for her excellent work ethics and diligence in her work.

She loved to read her Bible and cook Filipino dishes. Her favorite hobbies were crocheting, embroidery, and sewing. She was always looking forward to travel back to the Philippines and visit relatives but was put on hold this time because of pandemic.

It will never be the same without her, and she will be greatly missed by all who loved and cherished her. Let us be thankful for all the special moments that we have with Nanay. May her legacy continue to live within our hearts and minds forever. 

God Bless you Nanay Maria, know that you are loved. We know you are now with Jesus Christ our Lord in heaven. Until we meet again.
