Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on May 2, 1927, to Sallie and Edward Paul Hood, Paul passed away on September 21, 2021, at his home in Alameda, California. Paul was preceded in death by his wife, Joanna Hood; his sister, Alvena Kinder; and his brother, Howard Hood. He is survived by four nieces and two nephews.
Paul served in the US Army during WW II. Upon his discharge, he attended Ohio State University, where he earned a PHD in psychology. He retired from WestEd, a San Francisco-based nonprofit, after working for 49 years as its Director of Institutional Planning. WestEd’s “Paul D Hood Award for Distinguished Contribution to the Field” honors his dedication to educational research. Paul traveled extensively for work and pleasure.
A private service will be held in Arizona, during which his ashes will be scattered.
