Paul Foo Wong

Born in Mong Da Toisan, China, Paul came to the United States in November of 1949 and settled in California to pursue better opportunities.  He was a resident of Oakland and Alameda for over 68 years.  He passed away peacefully at his home at the age of 90 on February 26, 2019.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his three brothers.  He graduated from Oakland Tech in 1953.

Paul was the beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather of his family.  He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Lily Low; four sons, Kevin (Carol), Kirk (Amy), Keith (Lilibeth), and Kennan (Marie); eight grandchildren, Nicole, Erik, Kramer, Kelsey, Kristi, Sheena, Zoe, and Mia; and one great-granddaughter, Ashlyn.

For 35 years he worked for Cochran and Celli and retired in 1990, as an automotive technician. 

He was a proud member of Local Union 1546, International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers.  He served as shop steward and was an executive board member and trustee for over 30 years.

He was a lifetime advisor and past president of the Wong’s Family Association of Oakland.

He liked to travel; he went to China three times and went on eighteen cruises.  He loved to care for his plants, especially his orchids.
