Tribute

Robert (Bob, Beastwood) Kent Eastwood was born October 10, 1966, and grew up in Mountain View, California where he excelled both in academics and athletics, particularly in baseball – from little league, through Babe Ruth and on to high school, before leaving to attend California State University Chico.

In Chico he made many lifelong friends joining Tau Gamma Theta fraternity. In addition to the innumerable great adventures, including his portrayal as Captain Riverman Pierce, helping the fraternity win the championship at Rancho Chico Days, he also furthered his passion for music and became the lead singer for the band Graymail. This led Bob to Santa Barbara where the band released their debut CD and he found a new passion in construction.

Wanting to complete his education, he returned to San Jose State University to start a new chapter earning a degree in public relations and meeting his wife, Nancy. In his new career in hi-tech PR he again made many more lifelong friends, bringing Nancy along for the ride as they hosted elaborate parties and traveled, while continuing to work and use Bob’s construction skills rehabbing houses.

All of this led to his greatest joy – the birth of his son Callahan. Starting with their special morning routines as a baby, teaching him sports as soon as he could hold a ball and then when he was old enough, taking him camping throughout northern California and skiing in Tahoe. However, the absolute best for him was sharing his love of baseball with Cal while coaching Alameda Little League for five seasons. With a positive approach and a desire to improve each child’s skill and love for the game he was able to spend countless hours with Callahan at the field. Along the way, again, making many more friends.

In every phase of Bob’s life dating back to middle school, Bob made friends and kept in touch with them. He treasured their time together and he will live on in their memories.

He is survived by his wife Nancy, son Callahan, brothers Walt and Rich, sister in-law Teresa, brother-in-law Austin, father-in-law David and five nephews – Jackson, Cooper, Jackson, Grayson, and Branson. His parents and brother Jeff have passed. Donation can be made in his honor to Alameda Little League.

There will be a celebration of life on Sunday June 26th from 11am to 3pm at the Oakland Yacht Club, 1101 Pacific Marina, Alameda.
