Ruben M. Samaniego

Rubén Samaniego Muñoz passed away on June 13, 2020 at home surrounded by his family.  He was born on December 20, 1950 in el Barrio San Sebastián, Zacatecas, in the municipality of Juchipila, Zacatecas, to parents, Carmen Muñoz and Rufino Samaniego (†).  As the oldest of six kids, he helped his father work their land.  At the age of 19 years old, he came to the United States in search of a better life.

Ruben first settled in Richmond CA, along with his father and brothers.  He worked at Color Spot Nursery until 2018, and later in landscaping.  His passion was his family, plants, and his old school cars, especially mustangs.  Everywhere he went, he greeted everyone with a smile. He loved joking around and making everyone laugh.  He enjoyed dancing and would be the first one on the dance floor at every party.

He was a hard worker and always willing to help anyone.

He is survived by his wife Olimpia, his daughters, Andrea, Veronica, Aralisa, Rocio, his sons Hugo and Alejandro, his mother Carmen, and his siblings Esther, Oscar, Hector, Josefina and Raudel.  He is also survived by his grandchildren Isaiah, Jeremiah, Kaiah, Alejandra, Angelica, Esteban, Ethan, Nathaniel, Ayanara and many nieces and nephews.  He will be greatly missed.

Private services will be held at Greer Family Mortuary and his final resting place will be at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Oakland, CA where his father is also interred.
