Originally from Philadelphia, PA, Ken has been in funeral service since 1988.  He is a licensed funeral director and embalmer and has been in management since 1993.  Ken truly believes quality of service to his families is paramount and each one should be served with the same dignity and respect that he’d want his own family to receive.

Ken resides in Alameda with his wife Jaddy and daughter Helen.  His interests are professional baseball and football and his hobbies are working out and running. Ken has completed over 67 marathons and has run one in all 50 states and four continents.  He is also a member of the Alameda Rotary Club, Alameda Hospital Foundation Board President, Alameda Meals on Wheels Board, and Toastmasters International.

Christine has been in the funeral profession since 2002, and has been a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer at Greer® Family Mortuary since 2008.

Christine lives in Alameda with her husband, Ron and their two dogs, Izzy and Frankie.  She enjoys spending time with her family and friends, cooking, gardening, going to car shows, travelling and visiting her hometown Napa.

She is a member of the Bayview Women's Group in Alameda, a volunteer for Alameda Meals on Wheels, active within the Alpicella Club with her husband and attends various Chamber events.

Andrew Slakey

Funeral Director/Embalmer

Andrew Slakey is a licensed funeral director and embalmer who began his career in funeral service in 2005 and joined Greer Family Mortuary and Cremation Services in 2011.

He moved from the Los Angeles area to San Francisco in 1994 and graduated from the University of San Francisco with a B.S. in Business Administration with an emphasis in Hospitality Management. He began a successful career in hospitality, working for The Ritz-Carlton, San Francisco before a series of life events led him to search for greater meaning in his professional life and eventually brought him to a second career in funeral service.

Andrew lives in Alameda with his spouse and their golden retriever. He volunteers with Alameda Meals on Wheels, is on the board of Oakland’s Koreatown Northgate Improvement District, and is past Vice President of the Encinal Yacht Club. He swims with a U.S. Masters Swimming team and enjoys the challenge of open water swimming in San Francisco Bay. Other hobbies include sailing, kayaking, exploring global cuisine and fine dining, home brewing, wine tasting and trips to wine regions, reading, and domestic and international travel.

Celina Hernandez

  Celina started with Wilson & Kratzer Mortuaries in 1998 as an Administrative Assistant and in 2001, she was asked to become a Funeral Arranger, an opportunity she accepted. She enjoyed serving and assisting the families in her diverse community.  In 2004, she was awarded the “Funeral Service Person of the Year” by the California Funeral Directors Association in Southern California while attending that year’s conference.  In July of 2008, she passed the California Insurance License exam and found a great need for families to better understand that their plans of preparing for the future were just as important for a loved one as when a death occurs.  
  A Bay Area native, having attended schools throughout the Contra Costa area, she graduated from high school in 1996, and later attanded  classes at Contra Costa College while working fulltime.
  After working with Wilson & Kratzer Mortuaries for 13 years, Celina transferred to Greer Family Mortuary in May 2011. Now the active Office Administrator, she handles all of the daily functions in the front office and assists with families as needed.
Outside of the office, she enjoys spending time with her husband and 4 beautiful children.  The love and joy that they bring to her life are more than any one person could ask for.

Jenny Chen

Counselor for Asian Services

Originally from Taiwan, Jenny has been a funeral counselor for over twenty years and has been at Grant Miller-John Cox Mortuary since 2005. She is very active in several associations in the Chinese community in Oakland's Chinatown, including the Chinese Chamber of Commerce, and enjoys traveling, physical fitness and gourmet cooking.

Craig is originally from New York City, where he graduated from the American Acadamy McAllister Institute of Funeral Service in 1982. He enjoys sports, with baseball and bowling topping the list.

Leslie has been an Alameda community volunteer for over 15 years.  She is currently active with Alameda Kiwanis Club, Alameda Citizens Police (COPPS) and Christ Episcopal Church. Past volunteer activities include Alameda Hospital, Alameda Meals on Wheels & Friendly Visitors, American Red Cross and Alameda Food Bank.

She is a Bay Area native although lived in Tucson AZ and southern California for those younger years. Education includes University of Calif. Irvine, B.A. in anthropology and Orange Coast College, certificate in musical instrument repair. She was an accomplished French horn player for many years.  In 1985 moved back to the Bay Area for a career in commercial property management and accounting.  She was married for 18 years and lost her husband to cancer in 2006.

Leslie’s interests include trading equities and futures, classical music, travelling, camping & fishing and helping people.
